Social Capital by Raphael Arinze

 Social Capital: (Raphael Arinze)

There is Something in life called "Social Capital." The people you know; the people who know you. Quick unfortunately, people think or behave like social capital is only needed on weddings and burials. That is why you see someone will not have contacted you in ten years but out of the blue they are sending you messages, Hello, so and so, long time. Between next Sunday and .......is my pre-wedding. I need your support."!

Social Capital is not built overnight; it is reciprocal and does not need money (especially in this virtually connected world) to built. It just needs been sensitive that people have emotions and that you can't sneak into their lives only when you need help.

Social Capital is massively important and when built and used correctly, it can make a very big difference to one's quality of life. It can save you money, make you money, get you a better job, make things easier and safer, it can save you from prison, or save your time and effort, and make life enjoyable and productive.

As we progress through the year, please learn to connect with people in your circle. Check on people, send someone a birthday message, a condolence, a well wishes, check their timelines and comment something positive and inspirational. Pick your phone and call someone, or text them. It could be your relative, your colleague, your former schoolmate, a former or current boss, your CEO, your parents etc.

Creating a connection with people is important for building your social capital. And even if they don't respond, at least keep in touch and don't just reach out when you are in need.

Most importantly, respect everyone no matter their status in life and be there when others need you. Be a solution, an encouragement and inspiration. Avoid being a leech, a user or nagger. Just be a nice person who in a calculated way stays in touch with people and brings joy, encouragement and hope.

The most important asset you have in life is not your job, money or title; it's people. Your network is your networth!.

Ministers of God and their people by Rev Fr Benjamin Anthony

Ministers of God and their Community by Rev Fr Benjamin Anthony. Today's readings are talking about the cost of being in Christ and responding to God's call to be a minister.  Reading mostly emphasizes you in the account of the grace to persevere on Making God's call a foundation of total dependence on God no matter any rejection. According to the Gospel of Mark 6:4; that says that " A prophet is respected everywhere except in his town and by his relative and his family". And this typically runs on the main team of today's readings. This very rejection started from Jesus Christ himself who is the root of all ministers. Jesus, the son of God passed many rejections and many insults, mostly in his hometown. And to this, we should not be surprised when things alike happen to us for it's part of the call. But note this; Jesus Christ could not perform miracles in his hometown as he did in other towns, tribes, and countries. For this, when king. Herod wanted to t...

Let the word of God dwell in you by Raphael Arinze

Let the word of God dwell in you. Edited by Raphael Arinze . I'm sharing this article to you to encourage you to keep faith in God as you journey in life. Life is not all that easy, in any way it's not ours; not our home. Many things have been occupied our minds in purpose of being worried how yesterday gives credits to us, how today is benefiting us, and how tomorrow will be to us. Is what we eat, wear, live in nor have extra to keep?  Our lives, sometimes, give us some certain question when we all desire better than what it present. So many times, we go here and there due to our lack of materialism. But, I want to tell you that life itself is an unmerited gift from God. He alone knows what and how tomorrow will be. He is the author, alpha and Omega. He is to be followed in any course of our lives. Focusing on God is the only way to solve this critics question that lives present to us. It may seem inconveniences but it is connatural. It is part of us so that we can fully adm...

CATHOLIC CHURCH ETIQUETTE

When we talk about the word "Etiquette", etymologically it is not only applied to behavior at a party, dining table or formal meeting. There is also Church Etiquette which is neglected at the Holy Mass as follows: 1.   One must fast for at least 1 hour before receiving the Holy Eucharist. The only exceptions are medicine, water or unless someone is ill and needs to eat. 2.   Dress modestly; the Holy Mass is not a fashion show. The Holy Mass is not a part of American fashion display. Dress in a way that gives witness to your faith as a Christian and not to seduce anyone. 3.   Go early to Holy Mass, at least 30 to 15 minutes before the Holy Mass begins. And be as close to the altar as possible in order to pray silently and meditate before the Holy Mass begins. 4.    Before entering the Church (that is when there is no exposition of the Blessed Eucharist), make a single genuflection by your knee and also make a deep bow towards the Tabernacle....
